Gladys is 5 years old in grade 1 and living with her mother who sells sweet bananas by the road side to secure some income to be able to manage her home. Gladys' father works on sugar cane plantation where he earns very little income, whatever they both earn can not sustain the family leaving some of the children not attending school. Gladys would like to join her friends at school but the family's income status can not sustain her in school. she dreams of becoming a teacher some day, Gladys loves eating beef and rice and she loves playing with her agemates.
