Irene, a 7-year-old grade 3 student, lives with her maternal grandmother and mother after her father separated from her mother. Unfortunately, her father has become irresponsible due to excessive alcohol consumption, leaving Irene's upbringing entirely to her mother and grandmother. Both women are peasant farmers with limited income, struggling to meet the basic needs of the family and ensure the children’s education.
