Favour, an 12-year-old fifth grader, lives with her hardworking peasant farmer parents who struggle to make ends meet because of the meager income they earn. The limited resources from their work often leave them unable to fully provide for the family’s basic needs and the educational expenses for their children. Additionally, Favour was born with an umbilical cord disorder linked to a hernia requiring two surgeries which has been a constant cause of concern for her parents. Nevertheless, Favour performs well academically and dreams of becoming a medical doctor if she receives adequate support.
