Christine is a 13-year-old fifth grader who lives with her peasant farmer parents, who also work as casual laborers, to support their large family of 10. Their income is unstable due to the unpredictable yields from farming and inconsistent payments from casual labor. Because of these financial challenges, their school-going children are sometimes sent home for unpaid fees, and there is constant worry during any illness. Despite these hardships, Christine remains determined to achieve her dream of becoming a medical doctor, driven by her desire to overcome adversity and make a positive impact on her future and community.
