Ruth, a thirteen-year-old girl in second grade, lives with her maternal grandmother along with her siblings. Her parents, being sole dependents on peasantry farming, struggle to provide for the basic needs and quality education of their large family. Due to these financial constraints, Ruth’s primary support comes from her grandmother and aunts, as her parents are overwhelmed by the demands of their many children and their limited earnings. Despite the financial challenges, Ruth's health has been good, with no underlying medical complications, which is a source of relief for her family.
