Anderson, a fourteen-year-old boy in fourth grade, dreams of becoming a military officer. He lives with both his peasant farmer parents, who face financial struggles in providing for their basic needs and offering quality education for their school-going children. Their limited income from farming, often affected by poor yields due to bad weather and crop pests, exacerbates their challenges.
