Betty, a 7-year-old girl in top class at a kindergarten, lives with her peasant farmer parents and siblings in a rental house. She excels academically and is in good health. Her family struggles financially due to limited farming income, which hinders their ability to provide basic needs and pay school fees. Betty’s father suffers from persistent chest pain, leaving her mother to shoulder much of the family’s responsibilities. Betty dreams of becoming a medical doctor.
