Francis, a 12-year-old boy in Grade Five, has aspirations of becoming a soldier despite facing many challenges in life. Since the age of three, he has lived with his paternal grandparents, who are peasant farmers struggling financially. Due to their limited resources, his paternal uncle has taken on the responsibility of providing for Francis’s education and basic needs. However, his uncle's earnings from peasantry farming are also insufficient, as he must support his own children as well. Francis’s health has been a concern, as he has been sickly, which adds to the family’s challenges.
