Naume, an 8-year-old second grader, lives with her maternal grandfather after her parents separated and left when she was one year old. Her grandfather, a peasant farmer, provides for Naume and his family, but limited farming income—caused by poor yields due to bad weather and pesticides—makes it difficult to meet their basic needs. This financial strain has hindered Naume from accessing medical care for her persistent flu and cough. Despite these struggles, Naume is determined to become a lawyer and make a difference in her community.
